Well, Seymour is almost 1 and Otis is almost 4. Life with two little ones is very busy, so blogs have been suffering. But, here are some highlights:
writes his name
rides his three-wheeled scooter all around the park
plays super mario brothers on the Wii with his Papa
helps to make breakfast and do the grocery shopping
sometimes argues about things like the definition of words
has lots of friends at biokids
is very good with his little brother
crawls everywhere (MUCH more than Otis ever did)
says “Ahhh” after anyone takes a drink
likes rattles and trucks
likes some “real” foods but still eats baby food and nurses
has very bad excema which makes him itchy, poor guy
has 5 teeth (3 top, 2 bottom) and did not seem to mind getting them too much (compared to Otis)
loves to watch his big brother and try to get in on the action (climbing up couch cushions eg)
Today Seymour is 5 months old, and rolled over from back to belly for the first time ever! Of course mom was getting a flu shot at the time and had her back turned…but everyone else in the room was very impressed.
Born 8:07 am Fri may 16
8 lbs 4 oz, 21 inches
A brief fever kept us in the hospital for an extra day but we made it home for big brother Otis’s birthday! Everyone is doing well.
Jane and Otis visited twice today. Otis, Jane and Kael went to get lunch near the hosp. and brought back veggie potstickers for Julie. Julie’s recovery is going great, and Otis says that Kael should take care of the baby and he should take care of Mama.
Sorry we can’t update the blog as much as we would like right now. The most current source of info is twitter #semourwatch. Note: those tweets are shown on the right sidebar on the blog.
Some pictures are available on Facebook, and soon here picasa/google+.
I collected Seymour’s meconium. The first meconium sample for uBiota.com !
Julie is going to the hospital today for some blood tests.
Nana is coming in at 3:30 today.
Back to the hospital at 6am Friday.
C-section scheduled for 7:30 am Friday.
Another Grandson! No Way!
We have made some hints before, but in case you don’t know, we are expecting another boy in May! No one has been more surprised than my mom (on the left)! Of course, Otis is excited.
A lot of the basics of being a big boy are coming together for Otis: potty training, good with animals, dresses himself, conversational, persuasive, etc. So he should be fine. As for Julie and I, time will tell.
Otis had some rough moments today. He needed a break from whining and wanted some music (he often asks me to put music on the stereo and dance with him). I went for YouTube to show him a Dumpstaphunk video I saw a few days ago. Going to the TV to get the music is unusual and tricky because YouTube shows a bunch of suggestions based on your viewing history (Curious George, Elmo, Play Doh kit demos).
Uh oh now he’s whining and demanding Play Doh videos. Ack!. I quickly found the video in question and opened the tube. Otis was immediately silent and staring for the whole ten minutes. Yes that twin 6-string bass action is their normal setup.
BONUS: a stripped down version with Ivan Neville on upright piano, Ian Neville on guitar and Tony Hall on the bass.
Otis was learning his last name (same as mom’s, Hollien) right when everyone started to talk about Halloween coming up… so, he now refers to himself as “Otis Halloween”.
He had a great time trick-or treating this year with Papa, and came home with a big bucket of candy….which he then gave away (and I mean ALL of it!) when people came to our house for trick-or-treating. I think he enjoyed giving out candy as much as going out to collect it.
He was a brown monster (his own idea)- you can see pictures under “Mad Snaps”!
